These men are practicing a Tai Ji Chuan sparring method known as 'Push Hands.' It incorporates striking, pushing, grappling, holds, foot positioning, and joint locks (Chin Na). Practitioners learn to react to their opponents movements and counteract in a way that throws the other off center. In this application Tai Ji is a very effective means of self defense.

Greetings dear friends! I just returned from the Northern California Women's Herbal Symposium where Massey was teaching natural building to a new crop of cob-folk.
I took a class (in between running around after Osiris) on acupressure treatments for babies in Japan and China (I believe it was translated as pediatric Taingu?). At any rate, it made me think of you all in China, rockin' out with your babyko with fond smiles. It's my birthday today, so birthday blessings from Cally and ye olde Molly Trolley!!!!
PS --I am officially reserving a return visit from your trio when you do your globetrotting back to my corner of the universe!!! LOVE! --M
